So I mentioned in my last post that I was stranded in Florence...kinda...well, thank goodness for Siena! It was a long and somewhat frustrating day of traveling, but when we reached our hotel, it was so worth it! Truth be told, I'd never really heard of Siena before this trip and I didn't know what there was to do there. Thing is, I was perfectly content just walking around the ridiculously hilly streets because it was so pretty! If I had to live in Italy, this would be the place! See for yourself...

The view from our balcony....wow! |

We're walking into the hotel, that view seriously is right there! |
We had dinner at a pizzeria right up the stairs from the hotel (an ex-convent, so cool!). I had a truffle sauce pasta and the pasta was apparently a regional specialty! It was pici pasta and it was way good!
After getting our daily fill of gelato, Amanda, Moriah and I set off to explore! We found a parking garage with a strange fountain thing and we also found some lovely stars! Back on the hotel room balcony, the 6 of us just sat and talked while listening to an Italian man somewhere in the city sing and play the guitar. Magic!

On the left, the church. On the bottom right, our hotel! |

The Duomo of Siena! We didn't climb this one.... |
The next day we walked all around the adorable super steep cobble stone roads and just soaked in the city. There was one shop run by an sweet old man whose granddaughter came in and gave him a kiss while we were there! That shop had the best peaches (we all had to get one, soooo good!) and some pretty awesome music….Call Me Maybe has invaded the world!

How cute! |
We’d been walking so much and sleeping so little that Siena was such a wonderful break. If I could have stayed there longer I would have, no questions asked!
